Bill Hammer was more than just a skilled angler; he was the beating heart of the San Carlos, Sonora sportfishing community. Decades ago, Bill co-founded the historic Labor Day Tournament, a gathering that united local and international fishermen through a shared passion for the Sea of Cortez. Known for his generous spirit and love for the ocean, Bill left an undeniable mark on our coastal town. Following his passing, the tradition he helped build was proudly renamed the San Carlos Hammer Down Fishing Tournament in his honor. Today, his legacy lives on with every line cast, as the annual tournament continues to support local charities in the Guaymas and San Carlos areas. Bill Hammer will always be remembered as a pioneer, a friend, and a true icon of our waters.

Fishing license

Get your license at Turismo Nautico, Marina San Carlos. Open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. You can also get the license on the day of registration.
